28 YEARS OF HISTORY
The company began by restoring degraded land. That never stopped being the method.
Founded in 1998, Atlântica grew out of a degraded-land restoration project signed by the architect Gustavo Penna. The company's first asset was an area to restore, not a deposit to mine.
From there came a reading that is uncommon in the sector: invest in smaller mines with high-grade ore, and integrate the operation vertically instead of growing by volume. Almost three decades later, there are 197 mineral rights across Minas Gerais, Goiás and Bahia, and a portfolio ranging from iron ore to high-purity graphite.

SUBSTANCES
From rock to anode, magnet and silicon
More than fifteen mapped substances, organised by the industrial chain they supply.
High-purity graphite
Input for lithium-ion battery anodes, with fronts in Jequitinhonha, Malacacheta and Ibicaraí.
Quartz sand
Grade of 99.88% purity, with potential for the 5N standard required by the silicon industry.
Iron ore
Raw material for steelmaking, present in the Perdões, Barbacena and Barão projects.
Rare earths (REE)
Base of the permanent magnets used in electric motors and in high-technology applications.
High-purity quartz
Direct application in the electronics industry and in the semiconductor chain.
Manganese
Used as a desulphurising agent and as an alloy in steel production.

Environmental management
Seven fronts defined by study and permit conditions: degraded land, permanent preservation areas and springs, legal reserve, offsets, fauna and flora, water and waste.
