About the project
The asset lies at Antônio Carlos, in southern Minas Gerais, over the contact between the Mantiqueira Complex and the nappes of the Andrelândia Megasequence. The tenement was acquired at an ANM auction, and the substance under exploration is iron ore.
The iron formation here is not the one from the Quadrilátero. Instead of banded itabirite of sedimentary origin, what occurs is coarse-grained quartz-magnetite schist and magnetitite, with amphibole and garnet, aligned along a NW-SE trend — rocks the report reads as hydrothermal, tied to fluid percolation through shear zones. Regional airborne geophysics has been interpreted, outcrops mapped and concentration tests run in the laboratory. The next step is to infill the mapping, bring geophysics to the ground and open trenches and drill holes.
