About the project
The Jequitinhonha graphite deposit occurs in anatectic restites and kinzigitic gneisses of the Jequitinhonha Complex and in S-type granites within a fault zone. The graphite is present in both flake and lump forms, each with its own industrial application.
Delineating the deposit combined geological mapping, rock sampling, electrical resistivity profiling, five trenches, twelve auger holes and five diamond drill holes. The exploration application was filed in January 2018 and the Final Exploration Report was completed and filed in September 2023, closing the field exploration stage.
The project sits in the Minas-Bahia Graphite Province. Graphite serves refractories, batteries, lubricants and graphene production. For the Baixo Jequitinhonha region, which has low development indicators, it represents a vector of economic activity.
